TRICARE

First contact: Contact your PCM, Naval Hospital, or TRICARE Overseas before non-emergency care when unsure.
Referral: Prime usually requires PCM/referral authorization. Select and For Life often have more flexibility, but rules vary overseas.
Billing: Depends on your TRICARE plan, referral status, and overseas authorization. Many local visits still require careful confirmation first.

Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB)

Referral: Usually not required for clinics; hospital specialists may require one.
Billing: Usually reimbursement-based; direct billing depends on the facility and plan.
